What Are Venetian Blinds?

Venetian blind is a good choice for windows made with horizontal slats. With this type of blinds, we can adjust the slats to control the light as you wish by using a tilt wand. We also can move the slats up and down so the blind gives us many light options and privacy. It also looks really good as well as affordable. These types of blinds are also called wooden blinds. Aluminium venetian blinds is another name often mentioned.

The material of venetian blinds are PVC, real wood, faux wood and metals. There are a wide range of colours and stains so you can choose from. Installing blinds for living rooms and bedrooms make it more modern with a natural touch.

Inside Mount or Outside Mount?

Inside mount is all of the blind will inside the windows frame. It looks minimalist and tidy. There are things to be careful of making sure there are no obstacles that could disrupt the flow of the blind. Please check your window winders and sils. It can be a lightstream going through the sides of the blind but it is really not a big issue compared to the look inside the mount provided.

Outside mount

Outside mount the blank will cover the window frame so it will be mounted on the windows frame or outside of the frame into the wall. Outside mount provides a professional look with a pelmet running on top of the blind.

How to Measure Your Windows for Installing Blinds

Measure the width of your windows from inside the recess, one wall to another. Measure three times at top, middle and bottom and get the smallest measurement.

Measure the drop from top of the windows to where you would like to stop, normally to the bottom of the windows. Same thing is to measure three times at left, middle and right and get the smallest measurement.

Outside Mount

Decide where the blind should be mounted and then mark it. Normally, it should overlap at least 3.5 cm on each side of the windows to make sure it covers the entire window.
